Wang Fang

Dr. Wang Fang, who obtained her doctor degree. in cardiovascular medicine from Peking Union Medical College in July 2005, currently serves as the Director of the Centre for Cardiovascular Sports Medicine at Beijing Hospital. With over 35 years of dedication to the field, Dr. Wang has made sustained contributions to both clinical practice and research in cardiovascular medicine. Her career encompasses extensive clinical experience and notable innovations in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular diseases.

Major Research and Academic Achievements

Dr. Wang’s academic journey began at Peking Union Medical College and has since developed across three main areas: clinical care, scientific research, and education. She has led numerous national-level research projects, including the National 863 Program, the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and the National Key Research and Development Program. Notably, she served as principal investigator in the 13th Five-Year National Science and Technology Major Project titled “Construction of Clinical Evaluation Technology Platform for New Drugs of Major Diseases”, which provided key data support for new drug development in China.

Scientific Contributions and Innovation

Dr. Wang has been actively engaged in several cutting-edge domains in cardiovascular research, such as imaging-based diagnosis of coronary artery disease, the pathophysiology of diabetic cardiomyopathy, and cardiovascular exercise medicine. She pioneered the clinical application of a machine learning–based screening model for coronary heart disease using echocardiography, contributing to earlier and more personalized diagnosis and treatment. Her work has resulted in several national invention patents and the publication of 210 academic papers as first or corresponding author, including 71 SCI-indexed articles, with a cumulative impact factor of 293.

Clinical Practice and Public Health Advocacy

As Director of the Cardiovascular Sports Medicine Centre at Beijing Hospital, Dr. Wang has promoted a novel model of cardiovascular rehabilitation focused on structured exercise interventions. Under her leadership, clinical studies on compression training for elderly hypertensive patients and exercise programs for heart failure patients with preserved ejection fraction have yielded effective outcomes and gained wide academic recognition. In addition to her clinical research, she has edited both academic and popular science publications, including “Clinical Echocardiography” and “Health Care Medicine Court”. As a member of the National Science Popularization Expert Pool, she actively engages in public health education through media channels, reaching a cumulative audience of millions.

Looking ahead, Dr. Wang aims to further explore the intersection of intelligent medicine and cardiovascular health. By integrating artificial intelligence and big data technologies, she envisions the development of a more precise and efficient system for disease prevention and intervention. Through continued international collaboration and academic exchange, Dr. Wang also aspires to bring China’s cardiovascular research achievements onto the global stage and contribute meaningfully to the advancement of global health.
